Je temelj dobre telesne pripravljenosti, gibljivosti in dobrega po\u010dutja. Bil je prepri\u010dan, da sodobni \u017eivljenjski slog povzro\u010da slabo telesno dr\u017eo, ki posledi\u010dno vpliva na slab\u0161e dihanje in ote\u017euje ostale pomembne \u017eivljenjske funkcije. Menda je bil vzro\u010dni primer gib\u010dnosti. \u017de pri \u0161tirinajstih letih je imel perfektno definirano telo in tako poziral za razli\u010dne anatomske atlase.<\/p>\n<p>Njegova vadba temelji na vadbi telesnega jedra, ki je po njegovem mnenju osnova pravilne telesne dr\u017ee, mo\u010di in gib\u010dnosti telesa. Njeno bistvo je v kontroliranih gibih, s pomo\u010djo katerih pove\u010dujemo gibljivost, mo\u010d in telesu v vseh pogledih zagotavljamo bolj\u0161o celostno kondicijo. Vaje, ki jih izvajamo, so seveda prilagojene razli\u010dnim stopnjam. Povsem zmotno se je uveljavilo prepri\u010danje, da gre za predvsem \u017eensko telesno aktivnost. Pilates je primeren tudi za mo\u0161ke.
